In early August, news leaked about Google’s plans to unveil a competitor to Snapchat’s Discover feature – Google Stamp.
Following their failed buyout of Snapchat in 2016, Google seems to have been working hard on developing a rival feature that integrates with their existing Search platform.
Rather than being a standalone app, Google Stamp is set to feature at the top of Google’s search engine results. Similar to the placement of existing Mobile AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) the platform will use fast-loading AMP pages to deliver content from select partner publishers and trusted sites.
Similar to Snapchat, Google’s latest feature is expected to be a place for users to discover stories and articles from leading publishers across text, images and video content.
